Dr. Nadine Wagener is a passionate researcher in the field of Human–Computer Interaction. Since October 2025, she has been leading the Personal Pervasive Computing (PPC) research group at OFFIS – Institute for Information Technologyin Oldenburg.
Her research explores how VR and related technologies can influence and enrich people’s intimate, everyday lives at home. A particular focus lies on VR for self-care and strengthening interpersonal relationships—topics she examined in depth during her PhD, “Making Space for Self-Care: Designing Virtual Reality Applications to Empower Everyday Well-Being.”
Her vision is for VR to be seen not only as a form of entertainment, but as an integral part of everyday life—bringing people of all ages together through effective, safe, and engaging immersive experiences, and supporting stress management and conflict resolution.
