n≠1

Nominated for the XRC24

The “n≠1” project is a VR installation that makes it possible to conduct interactive dialogs with the deceased – both with historical figures and with loved ones from the private sphere. With the help of AI, digital twins are created based on voice recordings, photographs and typical behaviors of the deceased.

Users can interact with the digitally reconstructed twins in real time in this virtual environment. The conversations are designed to simulate conversations and allow users to communicate with the deceased in an emotional way.

One example of this is the recreation of Helga Goetze, a Berlin activist and feminist. Users have the opportunity to meet her again, get to know her through dialogue, and engage with her thoughts. These encounters offer new insights into the lives and beliefs of the deceased and make history tangible once more.

n≠1 is nominated for the nextReality.contest in the Zeitgeist category.
