Alex Kutter is a professor and leads projects in the field of immersive technologies in collaboration with students and industry partners. His focus is on leveraging the specific strengths of technologies to create effective and sustainable solutions. His career combines scientific research, technical innovation, and entrepreneurial leadership. He is also CEO of XR Essential GmbH and previously, he served as Managing Director and Head of Development at VR Insight GmbH and VR Nerds GmbH, where he developed VR applications for market research, retail, and entertainment. He holds a Ph.D. in fluid mechanics with a focus on AI and sensory perception, as well as a degree in business administration. Kutter is driven by the intersection of engineering, user experience, and digital storytelling.

Our Gaussian Splatting Year 2026 – Selected Projects

Our year 2026 is all about immersive 3D innovation: our contribution presents pioneering use cases of Gaussian Splatting in the cultural sector. Using projects with the Freilichtmuseum Detmold, Museum Schloss Brake and Landesmuseum Detmold as examples, we show how historical spaces can be captured highly efficiently and photorealistically. We also demonstrate the interactive use and spatial merging of this data with our application "Nexus". A hands-on look at forward-thinking workflows.
